Oxford Station is in the county of Oxfordshire and is one of two stations in the city of Oxford, along with Oxford Parkway. Oxford Station has many landmarks on its doorstep including the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford Prison & Castle, and Oxford University Museum of Natural History.

Oxford Station is by far the busiest of the two mainline stations serving the city of Oxford, with 8.7 million passengers passing through the railway station in 2019-20. Oxford Station is managed by Great Western Railway which also operates two lines that have Oxford Station as their terminus station. Oxford Railway Station has four platforms.

Oxford Station was originally opened on Western Road, Grandpont by Great Western Railway in June 1844. A new station was opened by Great Western Railway on Park End Street in October 1852. The station was then substantially rebuilt in 1971.

Services from Oxford Railway Station run to major cities across the country including London, Newcastle, and Manchester. Chiltern Railways operates a regular service to London Marylebone and Great Western Railway operates a train to London Paddington which also stops at Reading.

Chiltern Railways services go to Stratford-upon-Avon and London Marylebone Station, Great Western Railway services stop at London Paddington and Reading, and CrossCountry trains stop in Manchester and Newcastle.
